Why we’re here
Somewhere Else began with a simple question: What if students who feel they could be more successful somewhere else could finally find that place?
The concept is currently in the exploratory and information-gathering stage, with conversations taking place throughout the community to better understand local needs, opportunities, and potential partnerships. The vision is to create a school where students who have been pushed to the margins are not sent away, but welcomed into a learning environment where they are known, supported, and expected to succeed.
Through hands-on learning, meaningful work, strong relationships, career-connected pathways, and access to community services, Somewhere Else seeks to help students reconnect with education while preparing for successful futures. The goal is not simply to help students earn credits or graduate, but to create a place where they can discover their strengths, build confidence, and find a sense of belonging.
As the concept continues to develop, community feedback will play an important role in shaping what Somewhere Else could become. At its heart, the vision remains the same: helping young people find their place—and creating a community where they want to stay.
